Good morning! Now that I've had a little time to properly focus on this thing, I wanted to introduce myself!
My name is Aly, I'm currently a 33 year old from and still in Ohio. I'm a dispensary manager and artist in the cannabis industry, and I'm incredibly passionate about the community these roles have brought me and allowed me to help build.
I've been doing art for my entire life, but started really focusing on skill, style, and theme around age 12. I have always been most interested in depicting people or characters. During middle school and highschool, my friends and I probably collectively created over 100 characters that we included in our own little comics and stories. During highschool, I took every art class I could including a professional protfolio buidling class. I had the most amazing teacher in the world, who was also a very prolific multimedia artist. At the time, she created beautiful abstract three dimensional wall-hanging and sculptures. She was my school mom, and always pushed me forward artistically and emotionally. After highschool, I absolutely fell in love with watercolor painting, and then gouache painting. I started finding a home in semi-surrealist portraiture, layering ink and pen over paint. With interest in all forms of art and expression, I have tried SO MANY mediums. Traditional mediums like painting and sketching, digital painting, clothering alterations and mending, print-making, stamp-making, paper-making, mask-making, photography, I'm sure the list goes on. Lately, I have been heavily focusing on digital painting and illustration, trying to find a blend between my tradtional art style and digital.
As an adult, my art and I have been a part of a handful of street festivles, a couple solo art exhibitions, the first few Membrane Constillation group art exhibitions held at LA Luna in Mansfield, OH. Most recently, I've been blessed with the oppurtunity to create art within the cannabis industry, blending two of my biggest passions in the most beautiful way.
Outside of my professions, I'm a cat parent to a tail-less blonde orb named Grotto, and a slithery baby-bat-cat named Helsing. I'm a gamer and I love live music! I love anime and cartoons, and still watch a lot of 2000's Adult Swim. I am incredibly interested in and passionate about paleontology and archeology, marine biology, mental health and disorders, and I suppose most things related to natural science and humanity.
My drive to make my own website came from my deep nostalgia for "old internet." I miss how creative and exciting and unique it all was, and thought, "why don't I try to recreate what I miss?" Luckily, I have some amazing people in my life who have been able to steer me in the right direction to make this possible. (: I'm so excited to have my own lil internet home hehe.
